Cooling System Service
There are several reasons to consider flushing the cooling system on your car. The modern car engine operates at a temperature above the boiling point of water. It depends on the coolant additives and the system pressure to keep the water from boiling out of the radiator. A well-maintained cooling system is critical to the life of your engine. Deterioration of the coolant, or any system leak that results in a loss of pressure will allow the engine to rapidly overheat and may cause severe engine damage.
Most late model engines use several different types of metals and plastics. A primary job of the engine coolant is to lubricate the cooling system. This lubrication reduces friction as the water is forced through passages under pressure, reducing the erosion of metals or plastics. The additives in the coolant also control electrolysis. The dissimilar metals of the engine can act like a battery, building up an electrical charge inside your cooling system. This chemical reaction actually eats away at the metals of your engine and the gasket joining parts.
BG Products cooling system cleaner and conditioner removes the old deposits from your engine then treats the inside of the engine and conditions the coolant with additional additives to control the pH of the coolant. This treatment will reduce friction and help to prevent electrolysis.

If you will perform the cooling system flush before your car gets to 30,000 miles or 3 years old, and continue a good maintenance program of flushes every 30,000 miles, they will warranty the cooling system for 7 years or 150,000 miles.
There is really only one reason to service the fluid in your transmission. It cost way too much to overhaul or replace it if it breaks down.
A Transmission operates at about 175 degrees under normal circumstances. Under heavier loads, such as repeated shifting, hauling a load or climbing hills the temperature can go to 225 or 250 degrees very quickly. At these higher temperatures the fluid will break down rapidly and the transmission will develop internal slippage.
Transmission internal parts wear. The worn off material becomes suspended in hot fluid and is carried throughout the transmission before becoming trapped in the filter. The hot transmission fluid coats the internal parts of the transmission, and when it cools will leave a varnish like coating on surfaces. The combination of accumulate dirt and varnish increases the wear on the moving parts inside the transmission and restricts the fluids ability to flow and pressurize the gear packs as needed.
A conventional transmission service, one where the transmission oil pan is removed to change the fluid, only replaces 50% or less of the fluid, and removes none of the dirt trapped inside the clutch packs or torque converter. A transmission flush changes all of the fluid.
High quality BG Products transmission flush chemicals first circulate through the transmission to loosen any trapped dirt. A transmission flush machine is then attached to the car and all the old fluid is circulated out of the transmission and fresh fluid pumped into it. This has been compared to a dialysis machine. Once the fluid transfer is complete and special BG Products conditioner is added to the fluid to enhance the viscosity and other characteristics of the fluid.
Under more extreme conditions a synthetic fluid may be used to prolong the life and improve the performance of your transmission.
We recommend a transmission flush every 30,000 miles or 2 years, more often if you tow a heavy load often.
